Stand up for your opinions, but . . .

Fight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth. - Charles Anderson Dana

Anyone should follow this axiom. It gives you the right to defend your position, but points out, rightly, that your opinion probably does not contain the whole truth. You have to be open to movement and compromise. Politicians should be ready -- no anxious -- to find those points where compromise will benefit the greater portion of the people so that each American Person derives some benefits from their work.
