Texas police as gun dealers?

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/25/us/under-a-new-law-the-police-can-act-as-gun-dealers.html?_r=0

For decades, weapons confiscated by the police in Texas were supposed to be used for law enforcement purposes — or else destroyed. Starting next month, police departments across the state will be allowed to sell some of them.

So you take the guns from criminals and sell them to wackos? Great plan, Texas. Another reason to be glad I don't live there.

Will new Iranian president make a difference?

Iranian President Rouhani takes oath of office before parliament http://n360.to/1ekVXm6

(Reuters) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani took the oath of office before parliament in Tehran on Sunday and was expected later in the day to name a cabinet he said would be chosen from figures across the political spectrum.

I don't hold out much hope. The supreme leader is still there and this guy has been slapped down before. Maybe he will be more willing to talk, but talk is cheap.

What a great use of space

A dead WalMart in McAllen, Texas has been remodelled as a library, making it the largest single-floor library in the USA. It's award-winning design makes excellent use of all that space --two football fields' worth -- and includes an acoustically separated teen space. ( http://feedly.com/k/15mZO2C)

This is a really great use of dead space in a town.
